How to Cancel Roku

Last updated: April 4, 2026

Roku itself is a free streaming platform, but many channels offer paid subscriptions billed through Roku (such as Paramount+, Starz, Discovery+, and others). If you see a charge from Roku on your statement, it's for a channel subscription managed through your Roku account. You can cancel these at my.roku.com or directly on your Roku device.

Good to Know

  • Roku charges are for individual channel subscriptions (Paramount+, Starz, etc.), not for Roku itself — the Roku device and platform are free.
  • You can only cancel Roku-billed subscriptions through Roku. If you subscribed to a channel directly (e.g., on paramountplus.com), you must cancel on that service's website.
  • Your access continues until the end of your current billing period after cancellation.
  • Removing a channel from your Roku home screen does NOT cancel the subscription — you must explicitly unsubscribe.
  • Check my.roku.com/account/subscriptions to see all active subscriptions billed through Roku.
  • If you have multiple Roku devices, subscriptions are tied to your Roku account, not individual devices.

Frequently asked questions

Why am I being charged by Roku?

Roku charges you for channel subscriptions you activated through your Roku device. These are individual channels like Paramount+, Starz, AMC+, Discovery+, and others. The Roku platform itself is free.

Does removing a channel cancel my subscription?

No. Removing a channel from your Roku home screen does not cancel the paid subscription. You must go to my.roku.com/account/subscriptions and explicitly unsubscribe to stop being charged.

Can I manage all my Roku subscriptions in one place?

Yes. Go to my.roku.com/account/subscriptions to see every active subscription billed through Roku. You can cancel any of them from this page.

Will I keep access after cancelling?

Yes. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. After that date, the channel will become unavailable unless you resubscribe.

How do I know if I subscribed through Roku or directly?

Check your bank statement. If the charge is from 'ROKU' or 'Roku Inc', you subscribed through Roku. If it's from the service directly (e.g., 'Paramount+'), you need to cancel on their website.
